a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts and cried to him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."
But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and pleaded with him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us."
But he answered, "I have only been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
Then came she and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."
But he answered, "It is not proper to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs."
Then she said, "True, Lord, yet the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."
And Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith, it is done for you even as you desire." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Then Jesus departed from there, and went along by the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain and sat down there.
And great multitudes came to him, having with them those who were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and placed them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them;
So much so that the multitude was astonished when they saw the dumb speak, the maimed whole, the lame walk, and the blind see; and they glorified the God of Israel.
Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have followed me three days now, and have nothing to eat; and I will not send them away fasting, for fear that they faint on the way."
And his disciples say to him, "Where would we find enough bread in the wilderness to fill so great a multitude?"
And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" And they said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
Then he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
And he took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples; and the disciples gave them to the multitude.
Then they all ate and were filled; and they gathered up the broken pieces of food that was left, which filled seven baskets.
The number of those who ate was four thousand men, beside women and children.
Then he sent the multitude away, and took the boat to the coasts of Magdala.
