As Jesus and his disciples went on their way, he entered the village of Bethany. A woman named Martha received him into her house.
She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus to hear him teach.
Martha was very busy serving. She came to Jesus and said:
Lord doesn’t it bother you that Mary has left me alone to serve?
Jesus answered and said:
Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is the most important: Mary has chosen what is important, and I will not take it away from her.
